Maureen A. McKenzie, PhD.
Dr. Maureen A. McKenzie, CEO of Denali BioTechnologies Inc., has almost twenty years of experience in biotechnology as a researcher, entrepreneur, and executive. Dr. McKenzie has been an Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Pharmaceutics, College of Pharmacy at the University of Florida-Gainesville since 2004. Previously, she was an adjunct faculty member in the department of Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology at Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine and was an assistant professor in the department of Chemical Biology at the College of Pharmacy and a member of the Laboratory for Cancer Research at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. In addition, Dr. McKenzie also served as a Staff Fellow Scientist in the Receptors and Hormones Division of the Diabetes Branch, National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. McKenzie holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from a joint program at Rutgers University, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and Princeton University; an M.S. in Food Science from Rutgers; and a B.S. in Nutrition/Food Technology from Iowa State University. She has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and patents and serves as the editor-in-chief of the Encyclopedia of Medicinal Plants, scheduled for publication in 2014.
